On top of being around such a great program, I am also blessed with the ability to see a few of my friends from last year's seminar!

Today is the second week of school for most kids around the world, and I am assuming most are not enjoying it. Weirdly, I am. This year I transfered to a new school to get a fresh start, and that's exactly what I am getting. Last week at school has been the best week of school I have ever had. I've been making new friends, learning new things, and becoming a new person. At my old school if you were a new student you were treated like the next mnemonic plague, but at my new school I am making lots of new friends and reuniting with old ones. People help me to classes, ask me to sit with them at lunch and teach me their social norms. Besides learning my new schools social norms and my class schedule, I've been learning how to work a chromebook (not the easiest thing to do in the world) and how to play the quads in band. Many class structures are different here too. Here at my new school, we actually have a class for online schooling instead of doing it yourself at home. In my English class we do "Words at Work" to expand our vocabulary and "sound smarter", as someone in my class puts it. Most importantly, I'm learning about myself. Just in the short week I have been at my new school, I have gained so much knowledge about myself. I learned that I can be shy around new people, and how to fix it. Also, I educated my self on how to have more confidence. (When you are thrown in a room with 30 new people, you can't be lacking confidence.) And best of all, I am have learned how to make school fun. Overall, I could not have made a better choice concerning moving schools. While I will miss somethings at my old school, like the one and only Mr. Patin, the guy who taught me all this blogging stuff, I think getting this fresh start will benefit me in the long run. As you may know if you read the post below or watched the Igors, I was invited down to Oakland University to visit research labs and meet faculty. This invitation is finally happening this Friday. I will be meeting with three professors of my choice and spending the with the Dean of Students, Dr. Dvir.
I am pleased to announce that tonight, lcorwin.weebly.com has won the Best Career Blog Igor Award. Presenting the award was the Dean of Oakland University's College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Kevin Corcoran. Along with the award, I was also invited to spend a day at Oakland University touring their research facilities and biology centers. Just for the Health of it also tied for the Best Lifestyle award tonight with Gamers R Us. Congratulations to both Erin and I, and the other blog creators, Noah Bashore, Nick Bergman, Josh Brady, and Zach Bosley for creating such fantastic blogs. Other awards include the Best Sports blog which went to Ultimate Sports News Team, one of my personal favorites for any type of sport, and the Best Entertainment blog which undoubtedly was given to Noise Addicts. Once again, congratulations to all winners of any of the IGORs tonight. If you'd like to replay the IGORs, you can watch the video below or visit talked.tv. A few months ago I was invited to attend a leadership seminar. Weary at first, I accepted. The more research I have done, the more appealing the Hugh'O Brian Youth Leadership Conference seems to get. Now, as this weekend is fastly approaching, I am getting more and more excited about being elected to go through such a prestiged seminar. Throughout this weekend at the leadership conference, I will try to tweet my thoughts and experiences to keep everyone back home updated.
